Google's Chromecast, the $35 media streaming stick powered by your mobile apps, is about to get a lot more useful. As you are probably aware, the device is capable, easy to use, and cheap; however, the selection of apps that support it are limited as of yet. Today, Google decided to let loose the Chromecast SDK, which means that developers can now release their "Google Cast enabled" applications without needing to go through Google.

We expect to see apps popping up in Google Play and the App Store pretty much anytime. Many developers have already been working on Chromecast support and just needed the SDK to drop before they were allowed to release their app. Any apps that you've specifically been waiting for?

Excellent news!  Can't wait to see what developers can do with this!  :)

Oh yeah! Might be time to pick up some more Chromecasts :)   I actually noticed in the Play Store before this announcement that an app I use for my surveillance cameras (IP Cam Pro) had listed in their description that support was coming for the Chromecast so I was definitely excited to see this news follow the next day.

The possibilities are endless.. I can't wait to see what comes out from all of this.

I am thinking the same.  I think it is time to get another one and maybe even get one for my parents.  My dad now has a Moto X so it would be ideal for him to use with his TV.
