What do people find to be the best sms app for their phones, particularly the galaxy note II which is what I have.  Do you just use the stock sms app?

I always liked GoSMS but don't trust them as a company. Stock works fine.

Why don't you trust them?  That is the one I just downloaded and it works awesome!  :)

Go SMS works great for me. The theme store they have is kind of crappy since it lists a bunch of themes that aren't really free. You have to try a bunch of getjar stuff or pay by an in app purchase. Myself, I use one of Dustin's cobalt themes. Buy it up front and its well supported.

My 3 favorites, in order of preference are, GO SMS Pro, Handcent, and Chomp. They all need a little bit of tweaking to get them looking good.

I'm probably just being paranoid but one day I just got a bad feeling about how damn good their launcher and SMS applications were and that they wanted no money from me for them.

Stock will be my choice also, until Google Plus integrates SMS support, then I'm all over that.

While I don't have a GNII, I personally use Handcent SMS.

I stick with stock. But I am running beanstown106 jelly beans rom. So the appearance is much nicer than bone stock. I tried using most of the recommended sms apps but could never really get used to them.

Well Hangouts will get the capability, so that'll be nice.

But what about Chatheads?  My fiancee loves it.

Paranoid Android is trying to fake Chat heads. I dig it but it's pretty buggy still.

HTC's SMS app is awesome IMHO. I've never felt a need to replace it like I do on Samsung and Moto phones. Stock Android is good too.

Ditto.  Once I got my Note II I just use the stock app.  It works just fine for me.

Handcent SMS is THE third party application for SMS. The end!! It always has been and hopefully will be. Tried all of the above apps. No one is compared to handcent. I am using handcent since Galaxy S4.
