Courtesy of Sammobile, what you're looking at below is supposedly the first image, along with EXIF data, captured with the SM-C101, otherwise known as the Galaxy S4 Zoom.
Schermafbeelding-2013-05-13-om-15.29.45.

The device is reported to be (for lack of a better description) practically the same as a Galaxy S4, with a camera attached.  So, you're looking at what we know as the Galaxy Camera, but instead of being based off of the S3, we're looking at a model based off of the S4, with full cellular capabilities.

We're not sure if this will be marketed as a camera or as a phone, but either way it will be nice to see what Sammy does with the hardware and if they're able to at least make SOME progress bridging the gap between truly good cameras and arguably beautiful and powerful smartphone hardware.

The rumored specs are as follows: "a 4.3” qHD SAMOLED display, 8 GB of storage, MicroSD up to 64 GB, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, A-GPS and Android OS Jelly Bean, under Samsung’s own Touch Wiz Nature UX interface."  So, the screen, if this information is correct, will be a step down from what we see on currently shipping versions of the S4.

Whatever the name or finalized hardware, my interest is piqued.  What about you?

This sounds awesome, but God the way they name things is so confusing.

My interpretation is that it's the next iteration of the S4. The difference being the S4 Zoom will include an update to the optical components, and will match those that are currently used in their single purpose Android camera.

Is that about right, Chris?

But its a lower specd GS4 with a better camera? It's only rumored to also be a phone right? In that screen shot it says it's using Snapseeds software. I almost feel like this is Samsungs version of an iPod Touch to where it's going to be a touch screen camera with media capabilities and no phone hardware.

FCC filing confirms cellular capabilities. As far as lower specs go, seems the screen is the only thing so far.

That's ludicrous. Why would anyone buy a S4 with lower specs and better camera software? Even if it did have matching specs as the S4, releasing a suped up S4 will only piss off those who already own one unless they're looking to mark the price up?

Quite possible that it is just mobile data capable. The name however suggests otherwise.

I don't see this being successful, maybe some Samsung fans will get one cause they love the S4 so much so they'll get this as a point and shoot but that's all I can think of.

People like me will stick with our DSLR's. :D

I just can't carry around a dedicated camera. If ATT offers this when they take over Alltel, I'd consider it.

shame to put a better camera with actually Optical Zoom on a device and use a QHD display..  just wont give consumers that all in one media device, saving on cost for a display you source from your own plants..

No doubt. I'd rather carry a camera and phone seperately.

Well, the Galaxy S4 Zoom just got a little more real.

A supposed image of the device was leaked by Sammobile earlier today.  Check it out below.  Samsung is holding an event on June 20th to unveil new Galaxy devices, as well as some Windows Phone action, so we shall see if this phone camera phamera(?) shows itself then.

I don't see mobile phone users or mobile phone camera photographers liking this much. They should have stuck with the Galaxy Camera, this is a dumb idea.

I disagree.  I think it's an awesome concept.  I'm not, however, expecting it to be what I want.  Just the idea is bad ass.  A phone with a real camera.  *swoon*

It's probably not as appealing to me cause I have a DSLR.
