I've been taking a close look at the leaked photos, and wondered what some of the buttons do.

Please advise :)

  1. Microphone
  2. ?
  3. ?
  4. Power
  5. ?
  6. ?
  7. ?
  8. Function button - will this bring up the camera setting application?
  9. Lock - lock what?
  10. Headset - I guess this could be for an external mic as well?
  11. SD Card
  12. ?
  13. ?

Also, this leaked photo (courtesy of TechTastic) shows 2 cameras. They both look like the could be the NX, but the mic positioning looks different on each of them.

I'll take the easy one :) and say 13 is the ambient light sensor to control screen brightness.

2 looks like a record button and 5 could be the flashlight for shooting video?

Okay, I made some edits below based on my general DSLR knowledge

I've been taking a close look at the leaked photos, and wondered what some of the buttons do.

Please advise :)

  1. Microphone This is for the different camera modes
  2. Looks like an on-the-fly record button (not typical for dslr in that area, iirc)
  3. Shutter button - pressing it takes the pic
  4. Power
  5. This will flash when you take a pic - it's for light metering, I believe
  6. Lens alignment when you put it on the body of the camera
  7. Flash button - hitting it will pop up the flash
  8. Function button - will this bring up the camera setting application? THis looks proprietary - not something on most lenses
  9. Lock - lock what? Could be proprietary. Might lock the lens into the body, or lock a certain focal point if you're using a tripod?
  10. Headset - I guess this could be for an external mic as well? Looks like it, but it could be something else. There's no labeling, and usually an input mic is covered (canon and nikon do covering)
  11. SD Card - maybe, might also house the usb area, input mic, etc.
  12. This is for some viewing focus. might add some focal "dots" on the glass to help align/make thigns straight. Might also make thigns clearer depending on your vision.
  13. Might be an internal noise-cancelling mic - this is speculatory. It doesn't look common

For number 2,it's not as uncommon as you think. My D3100 has a record button like that.

Thanks 7stringer!

So, do you guys agree that they are showing two different cameras in that picture, or is that an optical illusion caused by the differing angles?

They all look the same to me.. minus the lens attachment on the last two images.

I think they're the same or maybe they're both potential prototypes and they haven't finalized a model yet. These are leaked after all right?
