Well I impulsed bought like a mofo today, so I might as well share the fruits of my labors:

  • It initially defaulted to landscape, not portrait.  After a system update it went back to portrait.
    • Note: for some reason it seemed to download two system updates; one prior to signin and 4.3.
  • Premium feel.  Lightyears ahead of the last.  The charging port doesn't look like some random triangular shape forced into clean lines--it actually looks clean and flush.
  • You can hold it with one hand a LOT easier than the last.

Will update with more thoughts and photos ASAP.

Already found a bug:

Weird flickering between 20-30% screen brightness.  Does not occur on any other setting, may it be auto or otherwise.

Beautiful!  :)

After staring at it for 10-15 minutes looking for D's flickering, I can say that with a high degree of confidence.

Update:

Went to BB to exchange.  Screen was completely dead--they could not get it "on" although it probably was "on."  Just went through the brightness settings on the new one and...success.

BTW, fellas and lasses, this is how God punishes the neurotic.

Update to the update:

Made it through the second system update and all is good.  Appears that I got a 1 in a million defect.

THAT BEING SAID, anyone else having issues?

Nothing yet, but not nearly enough time to play.  So far loving how clear text is though.

Did anyone capture the build numbers before and after the two updates?

Damnit, I knew I was forgetting something.  Final build number:  JSS15J

Also, based upon my dabbling in Recovery, it's called flo?  Can anyone confirm?

Edit: can confirm.  No longer grouper.

@Cory Streater, first build number (which I can confirm as it's the one I saw but didn't screen cap) is JWR66N.  Which means there are 2 builds of 4.3 floating around.

Actually, I think I did glance at that before the update (the second update, first occured before signing into Google).  I'm pretty sure the build number was something very similar to grouper, if not exactly (JWR66V).  But I didn't look long enough to remember the exact build.

Edit: see post above, that is very likely what I saw...

@AppleBonker, it's JWR66N per AP, and like you that's the one/close to the one I remember before I updated it.  Kind of cool that we're already on a second 4.3 build.

Will try and take some photos of the screen later.  Needless to say, it's quite an enjoyable thing to behold.

When it's not flickering and dying and resulting in minor cardiac arrest.

Agreed.  Guess I got accustomed to grouper, but this improvement is amazing.  I had a hard time believing how much better it is at first.

I'll try to do a side-by-side.  It POPS.  Not as dense as the One (few--if anything--is) but for a tablet?  Perfect.
