I know this is not the appropriate forum, but since there isn't specifically a 2012 thread, I thought I'd post this here.

I got the 4.3 update to my N7 last night and in the process realized I didn't do what I normally do to a rooted device before installing an OTA update, and lost root.  In my searching this morning I came across this site:

http://www.teamandro...an-install-cwm/

(FYI, I really hate linking aware from here, but I'm not a writer and don't want to steal anyone else's work)

Anyway, has anyone tried this yet?  I'm going to give it a try this evening.

Looks like its the same concept of rooting on the Nexus 4 with stock 4.3.  All you are doing is flashing a "root fix" file from the recovery which will re-open the root access on 4.3  I had to do the same thing on my N4 after flashing a 4.3 ROM.  Really simple and should work fine.

Yep, its pretty much the same for all Nexus devices. You're using Fastboot to flash the custom recovery and then using recovery to flash the superSU for root access.

Once the SDK is set up on your computer and you have the Fastboot file set up in the platform tools folder, the rest is easy. If you need help, just ask.

I think renaming the Nexus 7 forum to Nexus 7 (2013) was probably a mistake on my part. What do you guys think — should I separate the two?

Two options;

Nexus 7 (2012) forum

Nexus 7 (2013) forum

OR

Nexus 7 forum...with tags (i.e. flo for 2013, or even 2013; grouper for 2012, or even 2012 for 2012).

Example:

[GUIDE][2012] How to unlock bootloader

[GUIDE][2013] How to unlock bootloader
